Spotlight News is a local publication serving Delmar, NY, delivering engaging print and digital content focused on community news, events, and in-depth reporting. As a Graphic Designer & Editorial Paginator, I developed visually compelling layouts that enhanced readability and engagement. I collaborated with editorial teams to maintain a cohesive design style across print and digital platforms while managing multiple projects to meet tight deadlines.
EDITORIAL DESIGN
As a Graphic Designer & Editorial Paginator for Spotlight Newspaper, I was responsible for producing weekly publications, including the Colonie (which combines with Delmar), Delmar, and Spotlight editions. Using Adobe InDesign, I structured newspaper pages by implementing TAL (Template Assisted Layouts) for efficient image placement and applying advanced paragraph styles to refine typography and ensure consistency. My role required organizing editorial content, ensuring proper pagination, and balancing text with engaging visuals, resulting in clean, structured layouts that enhanced the reader experience.
BRANDING
Using the client’s required wording as a foundation, this 1/4V ad was designed to ensure clear messaging with a balanced layout and professional aesthetic. The structured typography enhances readability while maintaining a polished look. After finalizing the design, I implemented the Tal number system in InDesign for seamless integration into the newspaper, ensuring accessibility for the entire team.
