Schenectady Pride is an organization dedicated to spreading love and inclusivity in the Electric City by celebrating individuality, diversity, and community. As they prepared for their 11th Annual Pride Festival, they sought a fresh, meaningful logo that would represent their mission and Schenectady's rich history. Committed to authenticity, they hired an LGBTQ+ designer—me—to bring their vision to life. Their goal was a clean, timeless design that honored Schenectady's legacy while proudly showcasing LGBTQ+ pride, ensuring that the logo would serve as a lasting emblem of love, progress, and unity.
LOGO DESIGN
When designing the Schenectady Pride logo, I followed the organization’s guidelines to create a visual identity that was both meaningful and timeless. They wanted the name “Schenectady Pride” to be featured, along with a representation of their city and the vibrant colors of the LGBTQ+ community. Inspired by Schenectady’s nickname, the “Electric City,” I incorporated a light bulb as the central element, symbolizing the city’s history and the illumination of love and inclusivity. The rainbow rings reflect the diverse identities within the LGBTQ+ community, while the heart-shaped filament at the center reinforces the festival’s core message of love, connection, and acceptance. Every design choice was intentional, ensuring the final logo authentically represented Schenectady and its Pride movement.
